Another 6 series of Downton could be on the cards!
Speaking to NY Daily News Neame said:
“I think it is going to go on for a while.
“Right now the show is still growing in the U.S. and it would be awful to think of the show ending.
“I would rather let the show run between four and ten years, I imagine.”
Gary will play jazz musician Jack Ross!
Way back in February, we reported that the hunt was on for someone to play newcomer Jack Ross – a Jazz musician.
The casting notes read:
“Male, 25-30. A musician (singer) at an exclusive club in the ’20s. He’s black and very handsome. A real man (not a boy) with charm and charisma.”
Well Gary, who you will have seen in Death in Paradise and Bluestone 42 is their man!
Downton Abbey looks to add its first black actor!
The fourth series of ITV’s smash hit drama is currently in production and features a storyline surrounding race relations in the 1920s, according to The Sun.
Producers are said to be searching for an actor to play musician Jack Ross in the show.
Casting notes for the character read:

Should we believe the rumours?
Rumours that the actor was leaving the show began to circulate earlier this month.
Julian Fellowes even admitted there was nothing he could do about the actor’s decision.
Well in an interview with The Hollyowood Reporter yesterday, Neame said that 95 percent of the things written about his show are “completely inaccurate.”
Should Dan stay or should he go?
Dan, who plays popular character Matthew Crawley on the show, will reportedly exit Downton in 2013 following the premiere of series four.
“Sometimes actors feel they want to move on,” Fellowes told EW.com.
Series 4 of Downton on the way soon?
Exec producer of the ITV period drama, Gareth Neame, told the The Hollywood Reporter just last night that news should be out in “a few days”.
Series creator Julian Fellowes added: “We are being very sort of coy about it. We don’t know. We haven’t had a commission. But I think it would be pretty odd if there wasn’t.”
