BBC One has commissioned a third series of crime drama Shetland from ITV Studios!

Douglas Henshall will once again star as DI Jimmy Perez in the series, which is adapted from Ann Cleeves’s Shetland crime novels.

ITV’s production arm has been commissioned to make another 6 x 60-minute run of the drama, which will go into production later this year.

BBC Two’s police corruption thriller Line Of Duty has been re-commissioned for two more series!

Series three and four of Jed Mercurio’s detective drama will feature two new stories told over two series of 6 x 1 hour episodes.

The show will be produced by World Productions.

Mercurio said: “I can promise two explosive new cases for AC-12, new guest stars as police officers investigated for corruption, further twists and turns from the loose ends of series two, and maybe even some surprise reappearance.”

BBC One has commissioned a major new period drama titled Taboo.

The 8 x 60-minute drama which is to star Tom Hardy will be directed by Ridley Scott!

Set in 1813, the story follows James Keziah Delaney (Hardy), a rogue adventurer who returns from Africa with 14 ill-gotten diamonds to seek vengeance after the death of his father.

Refusing to sell the family business to the East India Company, he sets out to build his own trade and shipping empire and finds himself playing a dangerous game with two warring nations, Britain and America.

Harry Potter actress Katie Leung is to star in upcoming BBC Two drama One Child – a two-part 90-minute drama written by Guy HIbbert and directed by Exile’s John Alexander.

One Child crosses the world as a young Chinese-born woman adopted by Anglo-American parents struggles with who she really is and where her loyalties lies.

Writer Guy Hibbert said:

“I wanted to visit a contemporary Chinese city to discover what I felt was the most important story to tell from the point of view of the ordinary Chinese citizen.

Ricky Gervais has released the trailer for series 2 of his critically acclaimed C4 comedy Derek!

Gervais posted the trailer on his Facebook account last night (March 25th 2014) and asked his fans to share it and let him know what they thought.

The video features Derek’s father moving into the Broadhill care home, as well as Derek embarking on his first ever foray into internet dating.

Karl Pilkington, Kerry Godliman and David Earl are returning, while comedian Joe Wilkinson also joins the cast.

BBC One has today announced the cast for its new drama commission Our Zoo – an inspiring real story of the eccentric Mottershead family who established Chester Zoo in the 1930s.

Lee Ingleby (Inspector George Gently) will play George Mottershead, an ex-serviceman with a dream to build the first British zoo without bars, with Liz White (Life On Mars) playing his loyal wife Lizzie Mottershead, mother to Mew and June.

BAFTA-nominated actress Anne Reid (Last Tango In Halifax) takes the role of Lucy Mottershead, whose world is turned upside down when her husband, Albert (Peter Wight, The Paradise), sells their shop to help fund George’s plans for the zoo and both are forced to live with their son and family in the country.

Channel 4 has greenlit a new original comedy drama series titled CUT.

The show comes from new writer DC Moore and focuses on the lives of six “highly dysfunctional” civil servants as they are forced to relocate from London to Northampton.

Following public sector cuts, thirtysomething Katherine meets her new workmates who must also adjust to their new lives.

Danny and Angela are friends who constantly go on drinking binges, despite Danny’s co-worker’s beliefs that he is a strict muslim, while mid-20s Jenny is described as “far too eager for her own good”.
