Misfits gets a fifth series!

It was confirmed at a press event this morning (March 19th) that E4’s cult comedy-drama Misfits will return for a fifth series.

The fourth series of Misfits – which follows a group of teenagers who develop superpowers – aired on E4 towards the end of 2012, and a fifth series had been rumoured.

Series star Matt Stokoe (Alex) told Digital Spy in December that a fifth run had been “planned” but that the show’s cast were still waiting for an official confirmation.

“I think they’d like to do it,” he added.

“It’s all up in the air and we won’t find out until quite late if it’s going again. I think it’s planned, but nothing’s set in stone yet.”

Rumours of a Misfits movie have also been circulating with creator Howard Overman suggesting that he could potentially bring back old characters.

“If it happens, it will involve past and present characters,” he revealed in November. “Whether or not you’ve completely seen the end of Simon (Iwan Rheon) and Alisha (Antonia Thomas) if our movie has its way, is another issue.”

Overman is currently working with BBC One on new fantasy drama Atlantis – a new series being touted as a replacement for the popular series Merlin.

Casting director Julie Harkin has cast Misfits in the past, although no details have currently been confirmed regarding casting for series 5.

  1. I’ve actually NEVER caught an episode of Misfits. It always looks great from the trailers I see though. Would be an awesome acting gig.

Let me know if it’s worth investing in a couple of box sets people!
